                                   Emergence of the Coast Guard in India on 01 Feb 1977 as a new service was the result of an awareness that had been growing for some time in the Government for the requirement to enforce National Laws in the waters under national jurisdiction and ensure safety of life and property at sea. It was also considered desirable that these law enforcement responsibilities should be undertaken by a service suitably equipped and modelled on the Coast Guards of advanced nations like USA, UK etc leaving the Navy to exercise the fleet for its wartime role.

CANDIDATE PROFILE: 

• The Unmarried Indian citizens having following minimum qualifications are eligible to apply for the following posts:

MEDICAL STANDARDS:

Height in Cms:

• Asst Commandant (GD) and Technical: 157 cms minimum.
• Asst Commandant General duty (Women) : 152 cms. 
• Asst Commandant (Pilot) and Asst Commandant Commercial Pilot License (CPL) holders for Short Service Appointment (M/F): Min 162.5 cms and maximum 197 cms, leg length 99 cms. 

Weight:

• Proportionate to the Height and Age, + 10 % acceptable.

Chest:

• Well proportionate, minimum expansion 5 cms.

Eye Sight:

• Asst Commandant (GD) - 6/6(Good Eye) 6/9 (Bad and Asst Comdt GD(Women) Eye) without glasses.
• Asst Commandant GD(P/N) 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other /CPL Holders SSA correctable to 6/6 without glasses. 
• Asst Commandant (Tech) 6/6 (Good Eye) and  6/36 (Bad Eye).

SELECTION PROCESS:

• Shortlisted candidates through online application will be called for Preliminary Selection.
• Candidates are required to appear at the Venue with the necessary documents.
• The candidates qualifying above Preliminary Selection will be called for Final Selection.
• The Final Selection will consist of Psychologist test, Group Testing and Interview (Personality test).
